LESSONS and PRACTICAS

___________________________________________________

In our lessons, we dedicate ourselves to teaching you the beautiful language of dancing Argentine Tango.  While learning how to dance tango, you will find yourself entering a new dimension of life.

We have spent many hours taking master classes with some of the the best and well known instructors both in Buenos Aires and around the world and have developed a teaching methodology to help you advance your tango.  Our goal is to promote Argentine Tango as a social dance, with emphasis on leading and following, improvization, and musicality.  Tango is the social dance originated and found in Buenos Aires, it is not the tango seen in stage productions, dance shows, or taught by stage dancers.  To us, a comfortable embrace and a nice feeling are more important than flashy, acrobatic steps (especially if they do not feel good!).  Tango in the end, is a feeling found within the embrace, in the movement between a couple dancing.

You will learn to be one with your partner as you listen to the beautiful music and flow with elegance on the floor.  Tango often induces instant love and a life-long commitment:  it will simply change your life if you let it.  Give it a try!

Partners

It is not necessary to sign up with a partner. There will be frequent partner changes throughout each class, more so if there is a gender imbalance. If you wish to dance primarily with a preferred or regular partner, we suggest that you change back to your preferred partner every other partner change (so you dance half the time with your preferred partner).  Getting accustomed to different leading and following styles is an important part of Tango learning and will help to accelerate your learning curve.

Weekly Practica

Wednesdays after beginner lesson starting on January 11th
Note:  No practica on February 8th
Time:  8:30 to 10 PM
Cost:  $5
Guidance from instructors available upon request.

A practica is a "practice milonga", where you are encouraged to practice what you have learned in lessons and workshops. Formalities are generally more relaxed at a practica: you can practice your technique, can stop and work out a particular step or move, repeating it until you perfect it, or to talk and ask questions while dancing -- things you shouldn't do during a "real" milonga. Instructors will be available on hand to answer questions.

Come and practice your moves in a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment.  We will organize music in tandas, just like in our milongas. Everyone is welcome and hope to see many of you on Wednesdays.

Private Lessons and Semi-Private Lessons

In our private lessons we focus on technique, posture, embrace, deepening understanding of movements, and giving you some much desired one-on-one attention. This is the best and most efficient way of learning a dance, and in combination with the group lessons, you can really speed up the process of learning.  Please contact us directly.
